I’m curious as to how extensive the Ranger lineup will be upon it’s return. There’s already rumors about a Raptor model but will it also have a Canyon Denali competitor?

Kinja'd!!!

Chevrolet doesn’t offer a High Country trim on the Colorado yet, probably so it doesn’t compete with the Silverado High Country or Canyon Denali

Kinja'd!!!

Would a higher trim Ford Ranger sell? Or do you think Ford will reserve the upper trims for the F150 only?

Ford is probably having 2nd thoughts, currently their greatest dream is happening now, it’s the F-Series (F150 and Heavy Duties), beating Chevy’s entire line of pick-ups (Silverado & HDs, Sierras & HDs, Colorado and Canyon) combined in sales.

Why they would introduce a mid-sized Ranger with lower profit margins that will likely steal from F-series high profit margins is probably something they are questioning now.

Of course this wasn’t the case two years ago when the Colorado and Canyon were surprise hits and stealing F150 sales, but the mid-size market has actually started to regress once the market was met. Even Tacoma sales have lagged.

As a GM fan boy I know that I’d probably get an F150 over a Silverado simply because I live in the rust belt and I just can’t ignore the usefulness and longevity of an aluminum bodied vehicle here.

Ford took a risk and it paid off, I’m willing to bet that they hope to carry that to the Ranger. I just wonder if they’re going to hold back the options to limit competition with the F150, which I think would be a mistake
